Caring for your lambskin and wool products properly ensures their softness, comfort, and durability for years to come. As natural fibres, lambskin and wool require a little more love than synthetic materials — but the rewards are worth it.
General Care Tips
- Avoid direct heat and sunlight: Prolonged exposure can cause discolouration, drying, or shrinkage.
- Do not soak or machine wash unless specifically labelled as machine-washable.
- Do not bleach or iron your product.
- Use your lambskin or wool product in a dry, well-ventilated space.
- Regularly air out the product to maintain freshness.
- Always read and follow the care label attached to your item.
Lambskin Products
- Spot Cleaning:
- Gently sponge off small stains with a damp cloth and mild wool detergent.
- Avoid rubbing or saturating the area.
- Do not wring, twist, or force dry.
- Drying:
- Lay flat to dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight or artificial heat (e.g. heaters).
- Gently reshape while damp.
- Do not tumble dry.
- Brushing:
- Use a wire wool brush occasionally to restore fluff and appearance.
- Brush only when the lambskin is dry.
Wool-Filled Quilts
- Cleaning:
- Most wool quilts are not machine washable. Spot clean when necessary using a damp cloth and mild wool detergent.
- For deeper cleaning, professional dry cleaning is recommended.
- Airing:
- Air your quilt outside every few months (dry day, indirect sunlight preferred).
- This helps remove odours, refresh the fibres, and extend the life of the quilt.
- Storage:
- Store in a breathable cotton bag (never plastic).
- Ensure the item is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew.
What to Avoid
- Soaking lambskin or wool items in water.
- Machine washing items not clearly labelled as machine-washable.
- Drying in a tumble dryer, on a radiator, or in direct sun.
- Using chemical cleaners, stain removers, or fabric softeners.
